Clive man arrested for allegedly striking wife in face with fist

A Clive man was arrested Friday evening after allegedly striking his wife’s face in the course of a dispute,

Henry Begody, 77, of 1947 N.W. 152nd St., Clive, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 5 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of 152nd Street in Clive, where an officer of the Clive Police Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance.

The officer made contact with the victim, who said Begody allegedly “struck her out of nowhere” and “struck her on the side her face with his fist,” according to court records.

The officer observed on the victim “redness on the side of her face and early signs of bruising,” according to court records.

The officer made contact with Begody, who allegedly admitted “that things between him and his wife had become a little ‘heated,’ and he had overreacted” by “striking” the victim “in the face,” according to court records.

Begody was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
