Couple badly hurt in motorcycle wreck east of Earlham

A Waukee couple died Saturday when their motorcycle crashed near U.S. Interstate 80 east of Earlham.

EARLHAM, Iowa — A motorcyclist with a passenger sustained life-threatening injuries when their vehicle crashed Saturday afternoon near U.S. Interstate 80 east of Earlham while trying to outrun a law enforcement vehicle in pursuit.

The wreck occurred about 5:15 p.m. on 360th Street (County Road F90) just south of 360th Place, where the motorcyclist apparently lost control of the vehicle on a curve.

Law enforcement radio traffic indicated CPR was in progress on both crash victims, and two air ambulances were en route from Des Moines hospitals.

Radio traffic indicated the motorcycle was traveling westbound on 360th Street at about 75 mph prior to the crash.

The Iowa State Patrol, Earlham First Responders, Earlham Volunteer Fire Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Madison County Sheriff’s office and Dallas County EMS responded.
