December 22, 2016

  • Amy Johnson of Des Moines was traveling north in the 27000 block of N Avenue when her vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $6,000.
  • Suzanne Lee Christensen, 30, was arrest in the 400 block of Second Street in Redfield for driving while barred.

December 23, 2016

  • Karen Sue Berg of Madrid was traveling south in the 19000 block of Iowa Highway 17 when her tires left the shoulder of the roadway , and she was unable to reenter the roadway due to deep snow. Berg’s vehicle entered the west ditch, damaging a fence and a tree. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was $3,000, and damage to the fence and tree was estimated at $2,000.

December 24, 2016

  • Kathryn Radcliffe of Van Meter was traveling north on Ute Avenue when she crested a hill at 365th Street and lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions. Radcliffe’s vehicle entered the ditch and rolled once, landing upright. Radcliffe was transported to Mercy Hospital by Waukee EMS. Damage to the vehicle was estimates at $10,000.
  • Gail Hartleben of Guthrie Center was traveling south on N Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions. Hartleben’s vehicle entered the ditch and rolled on its side, damaging a post with reflectors identifying a small culvert. The Iowa Department of Transportation was notified regarding the damaged post. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4,000, and damage to the post was estimated at $200.
  • Jennifer Shepperd of Van Meter was traveling north on County Road R16 when her vehicle struck the back of a Van Meter ambulance driven by Michael Peterson of Van Meter. The ambulance was parked partially in the roadway, with a law enforcement patrol car parked behind the ambulance off the roadway. Emergency lights were activated because the ambulance and patrol car were working at another accident scene. Shepperd tried to slow down when she noticed the emergency vehicles, and she lost control of her vehicle when it began to slide sideways due to icy road conditions. No injuries were reported. Damage to Shepperd’s vehicle was estimated at $ 5,000, and damage to Peterson’s vehicle was estimated at $500.
  • Peggy Brady of Adel was traveling south on County Road R16 when she lost control of her vehicle due to icy road conditions. Her vehicle entered the ditch on the east side of County Road R16, striking several trees. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $10,000.

December 26, 2016

  • Trevor Hesseltine of Adel was traveling north in the 27000 block of N Avenue when his vehicle struck a deer. No injuries were reported. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $2,000.
