Dawson student, others learn latest auto tech on donated car

Sarah Myers of Dawson is one of a handfull of students working on the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ recently donated by the General Motors Co. to the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) automotive training program, the GM Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP).

Using the donated vehicle, the DMACC ASEP students will learn about the latest technology equipping today’s vehicles, including the GM Infotainment Technology and the new refrigerant R1234YF, which will be required in all vehicles starting in 2021.

Along with Myers, other central Iowa students working on the cutting edge of auto tech include Connor Roush of Indianola, Phillip Enderson of Redfield, Brodrick Wittmann of Columbus Junction, Ben Tallman of Guthrie Center, Connor Olesen of Granger, James Stagg of Panora and Damian Chamberlin of Altoona.
