Democratic presidential hopeful Andrew Yang, a New York entrepreneur and philanthropist, will revisit Perry Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the La Poste at 1219 Warford St. The town hall event will start at 10:30 a.m.

Yang last visited Perry Jan. 3 in a very well attended event at the Perry Perk coffeehouse.

Yang has written two books, the 2014 “Smart People Should Build Things: How to Restore Our Culture of Achievement, Build a Path for Entrepreneurs and Create New Jobs in America” and the 2018 “The War on Normal People: The Truth About America’s Disappearing Jobs and Why Universal Basic Income Is Our Future.”

Yang directs many of his policy proposals in his relation to the emerging economy of automation and artificial intelligence. Among his notable proposals is a $1,000-a-head universal basic income, an idea floated in similar form by Milton Friedman, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Richard Nixon and others.

“We can force corporations to pay their fair share and rewrite the rules of the economy to work for us,” Yang told the Perry Perk crowd, “but we can only do it together.”
