A Des Moines woman was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly assaulting her Waukee boyfriend.

Theresa Marie Gruetzmacher, 33, of 817 26th St., Des Moines, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness.

The incident began about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of N.E. Horizon Drive in Waukee, where officers of the Waukee Police Department responded to a report of “an unknown problem,” according to court records.

The arriving officers “heard yelling coming from” the residence and made contact with Gruetzmacher and the male victim.

The victim told the officers that Gruetzmacher “grabbed his neck and they started struggling” in the course of an argument, according to court records.

Officers observed on the victim “a bloody scratch” on the “right side of his neck and multiple red scratch marks on his left forearm,” according court records.

Gruetzmacher is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 11 in Dallas County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
