Jerica Renae Wiborg, 28, of 200 Dickman Road, Des Moines, was charged with assault causing injury-peace officers and others, interference with official acts-serious bodily injury and first-offense public intoxication.

The incident began about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 6900 block of Stagecoach Drive in West Des Moines, where six officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a preliminary report of six people fighting in an apartment complex parking lot and a revised report of “a single female who was on the ground, yelling for help, and there were several men around her, assaulting her,” according to court records.

When the officers arrived, Wiborg allegedly “started to resist officers and struggle,” according to court records.

Wiborg was eventually handcuffed and placed in a patrol vehicle, but she allegedly continued “physically resisting officers throughout this process” and “refusing to cooperate,” according to court records.

An officer received minor injuries in the course of detaining Wiborg, according to court records.

Wiborg was transported to an emergency room for evaluation, and the officers “observed her to have watery, bloodshot eyes,” and she “smelled of alcohol” but declined to submit to a preliminary breath test.

Wiborg was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $3,300 cash or surety bond prior to an initial appearance in Dallas County District Court.
