Mediacom customers are still without telephone, internet and cable services Thursday morning after a downed power pole near 180th Street on U.S. Highway 169 north of Minburn disrupted internet service about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A downed power pole near 180th Street on U.S. Highway 169 north of Minburn disrupted internet service about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for local customers of Mediacom and BTWI, a media representative told ThePerryNews.com Wednesday evening.

A backhoe performing dirt work at 17914 N Ave. apparently caused the power pole to fall and cut the fiber optic cable connection serving local customers, according to BTWI Network Engineer Nathan Leerhoff of Perry.

Leerhoff said the DMACC and PCSD computer systems have been affected alog with Mediacom and BTWI customers.

It is unknown when the system will be restored, he said.

“The repair truck just showed up,” Leerhoff said about 8:30 p.m., “but I’m not sure when MdAmerican can get the pole replaced.”

The N Avenue property is owned by Stephanie S. Tullis and Travis DeVault, according to county records.

ThePerryNews.com will update this story as information becomes available.
