Feb. 1 is fast approaching and as the date for the Iowa Caucuses nears, presidential candidates from both major parties are making appearances across the Hawkeye state.
Republican presidential hopeful Dr. Ben Carson will be visiting Jefferson Monday for a town hall meeting. The event will be held at Abundant Life Ministries, 1308 W. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.
Doors for the free event will open at 10:30 a.m., with Dr. Carson speaking from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. Reservations are not required, and the event is open to the public.
The Iowa Caucuses will be held Feb. 1 at 7 p.m., when voters from all 1,774 Iowa voting precincts meet to elect delegates to the Republican and Democrat county conventions. From the 99 county conventions, delegates are chosen for the state party conventions, which in turn elect delegates to attend the national party conventions, where presidential nominations are decided.
