An SUV left the roadway of the westbound Iowa Highway 141 Diagonal about 3:13 p.m. Tuesday, flipping, tearing through guy lines and striking a power pole before coming to rest in a farm field just south of T Avenue.
The driver, Olestine Niyongabire of Des Moines, was transported to Mercy Medical Center by the Dallas County EMS.
The vehicle sustained major front-end and rear-end damage, and its airbags deployed. A bumper and other debris were visible near the power pole. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $8,000.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s office, Woodward Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County EMS responded.
