Residents in the vicinity of W. Fourth and Warford streets reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing a flash of light about 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officers of the Perry Police Department responded and made contact with residents nearby, who reported the total or partial loss of electrical power to their homes.
The officers also investigated to determine whether power was also lost to the nearby commercial properties.
A faulty transformer was the suspected cause of the effects. The electrical utility company was notified and is responding at this hour.
