Thursday’s strong southerly winds blew down a tree limb that caught a power line and snapped off a light pole in a residential neighborhood of Perry.
No injuries were reported in the incident in the 1400 block of Evelyn Street that occurred about 12:45 p.m.
The limb appeared to fall from a dead tree, one of numerous remnants of the 2020 derecho windstorm that decimated Perry’s urban canopy. The power pole stood on the southeast corner of Fifth and Evelyn streets.
The Perry Police and Perry Public Works departments responded to the electrical emergency, and Alliant Energy was summoned.
