A fire alarm late Sunday at the Perry Public Library was determined to be false by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department.

The alarm was triggered shortly after 11:30 p.m. An officer with the Perry Police Department was first on the scene, followed directly by Perry firefighters.

The interior of the building was inspected, and the alarm was reset.

The cause of the alarm was not immediately apparent. An ongoing electrical storm might be a factor.

The 12,000-square-foot library opened in 1994. A $300,000 renovation was completed in April 2021.
