Fareway donates another $200,000 to struggling businesses

Fareway Stores Inc. has repeated its April outreach with a second $200,000 donation to the Iowa Association of Chambers of Commerce Executives for distribution to local businesses across Iowa that are suffering during the novel coronavirus global pandemic.

In Perry Friday, Fareway Manager Travis Landgrebe presented 40 gift cards of $50 each to Perry Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti to pass on to struggling local businesses.

“The Chamber Executive Board talked it over, and we ‘just know’ who’s been affected by the COVID restrictions locally,” Pasutti said. She said the $2,000 in gift cards will be targeted to hospitality and retail businesses in Perry and distributed later on Friday.

Perry Chamber of Commerce President Eileen Splendore, who is rounding out her 2020 term, said it has been a year like no other for the Perry commercial community. Splendore will be succeeded by by Cheri Welch as the 2021 president of the Perry Chamber.
