HUXLEY — Class 4A No. 5 Ballard had little trouble Friday in flying to a 59-25 win over Perry in Raccoon River Conference girls basketball.

Ten Bomber players entered the score book as the hosts improved to 17-1 overall and 11-0 in RRC action while just four players scored for Perry, who dropped to 6-12 and 0-11.

Ballard had leads of 14-4 after one quarter and of 27-10 after two frames. The home team held a 36-14 advantage after three stanzas, then outscored their guests, 23-11, in the final eight minutes of play.

The Bombers finished with 41 rebounds while making 21 steals. Despite the comfortable lead, Ballard continued to launch 3-pointers, attempting 34 shots beyond the arc in the game, of which the team made only seven.

Molly Lutmer and Lydia Olejniczak each sank a trey for Perry, with Lutmer scoring 12 points and Olejniczak nine. Two points apiece from Ashley Cerna and Phoebe Stewart wrapped the Jayette offense.

Brooke Loewe had 21 points and Josie Fleischmann 10 to lead Ballard.

Perry will travel to Boone Tuesday, host Ballard Thursday and then entertain Bondurant-Farrar Friday. All three are RRC boys/girls sets beginning at 6 p.m.
