Fire destroyed the large, two-story house at 1324 Willis Ave. early Wednesday, the home of Michael and Hildie Stokely of Perry.

There were no injuries in the blaze, which appeared to start in an upper room of the house about 1:30 a.m.

The Perry and Dawson stations of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded in force and are still fighting the tenacious blaze at this hour at the northwest corner of Fourth Street and Willis Avenue.

The circumstances of the fire are under investigation by the Perry Volunteer Fire Department. The 3,500-square-foot house was built in 1916.
