First UMC volunteers Nancy Gardiner, left, and Marylyn Schirman, center, greet a customer happy to have three dolls, including one that resembled Mark Twain, at the semi-annual garage sale Saturday.

The United Methodist Church in Perry began its spring garage sale and bake sale Friday at noon with a flurry of bargain hunters in search of good deals and sweet treats and continued on Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.

A wide variety of baked goods were offered along with a wealth of low-priced clothing, housewares, furniture and more. By Saturday morning, pickings were slim among the baked goods, with the scotcheroos and seven-layer bars carried off by early birds.

All proceeds from the semi-annual UMC fundraiser supports the church’s charitable causes.

With most of the baked goods already sold, First UMC volunteers, from left, Mary Ann Miller, Pat Probst and Iris Coffin had little left to chew but the fat at Saturday’s semi-annual garage sale fundraiser.
