An off-highway vehicle (OHV) struck a tree along the river south of Perry early Saturday evening, bringing an emergency response from several public safety agencies.

An off-highway vehicle (OHV) struck a tree along the river south of Perry early Saturday evening, bringing an emergency response from several public safety agencies.

The driver of the OHV was treated at the scene by Dallas County EMS and transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the 18600 block of 180th Lane about one-half mile from the road along the river bottoms.

The Perry Police Department, Perry Volunteer Fire Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office also responded.

Between 1982 and 2017, some 197 Iowans have lost their lives in OHV accidents, according to data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
