Fire destroyed a garage at a house on south Third Street in Perry early Sunday.

No injuries were reported in the blaze at 532 Third St., which was reported about 3:45 a.m. as “fully engulfed.”

Officers of the Perry Police Department responded and confirmed the engulfed structure was vacant.

The roof and walls of the garage collapsed prior to the arrival of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department, which immediately set to work extinguishing the fire and preventing its spreading to a second garage standing to the south of the destroyed structure.

Explosions and arcing from overhead power lines and a transformer increased the danger at the scene.

The 24′ x 28′ garage was built in 2001 and is owned by JC & JC Homes LLC of 2606 Willis Ave., according to county records.

The Dawson unit of the Perry Volunteer Fire Department and the Dallas County EMS also responded.

ThePerryNews.com will update this story as information becomes available.

  1. We wish to thank the Perry-Dawson Volunteer Fire Department and Perry EMS for there efforts this morning. They tried their best to save what they could of our garage. And thanks to the Allient Energy lineman for taking care of the power in the area.
