An unknown issue is currently affecting 911 services statewide, including the Dallas County area, and calls might possibly be routed to incorrect 911 Centers, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.

Dallas County Sheriff Chad Leonard advises anyone who experiences problems in calling 911 for an emergency to use his office’s regular number at 515-993-4567 or the phone numbers of a local public safety agency, such as the Perry Police Department at 515-465-4636.

“You can program our regular number, 515-993-4567, into your phone and use that to report both emergencies and non-emergencies,” Leonard said. “We would encourage you to program all your local public safety numbers into your phones.”
