A GoFundMe campaign has been established to cover the funeral expenses for Danyel Hardisty of Minburn, who was tragically killed Tuesday night in an automobile accident near Perry.

Sarah Kephart, who was Danyel’s coworker at the VA Hospital in Des Moines, organized the fundraiser, called the “Danyel Hardisty Funeral and Memorial Fund.”

Danyel, a 2000 graduate from ADM, “had been a coworker of mine since she started at the VA in 2016,” Kephart said. “She was one of the best CNAs I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. She gave her all to the veterans she took care of.”

Danyel’s 7-year-old son, Javen, was injured in the accident that took his mother’s life. He was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and then to the University of Iowa due to his injuries.

“Javen underwent surgery today for his injuries,” Kephart said, “and is expected to need several more over the next six months, possibly more because of growth.”

“Danyel talked about her boys, Javen and Zachary, with such pride,” Kephart said. “She loved being a mom and was so very good at it.” Hiking and rock collecting with her boys were among her favorite pastimes, she said.

Please donate if able so we can lift up Danyel’s family by taking away some of the financial burden they will endure during this most difficult time,” Kephart said.
