Three people, including a 1-year-old boy, were killed early Saturday in a head-on collision on U.S. Interstate 80 in Altoona, and the family seeks GoFundMe help with funeral expenses.
According to an Iowa State Patrol (ISP) crash report, the collision occurred about 12:48 a.m. Saturday near the 142 mile marker, where a passenger vehicle entered the interstate traveling westbound in the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an eastbound semi-tractor trailer.
The driver of the 2002 Volkswagen Golf, Gustabo Salcedo, 28, of Des Moines and his two passengers, Diana Sanchez-Tello, 24, of West Des Moines and the infant, whose name has been withheld, were “deceased at the scene,” according to the ISP report.
“Graciela the grandmother is asking for everyone’s help,” the GoFundMe page said. “If you can help, every dollar counts.”
