February 7, 2018

  • A deputy investigated a semi that was in the ditch on 220th Street near C Avenue. Robert Fineran, 61, of Ida Grove lost control of his 2004 Kenworth semi-tractor trailer and partially entered the ditch while also blocking one lane of the roadway. There was no damage to semi or trailer and no injuries.
  • A deputy was investigating the previous accident when Michael Birmingham, 21, of Boone lost control of his 1996 Freightliner semi-tractor trailer, which struck a 1996 Buick Regal, driven by Allyn Case, 30, of Jefferson. Case was stopped by the deputy who was conducting traffic control. After striking the car, the semi continued and struck a Ryder truck driven by Dillion Pfab, 40, of Lisbon, Iowa. The semi continued and entered the ditch. Case’s vehicle sustained an estimated $3,000 damage, Birminghiam’s vehicle an estimated $5,000 damage and and estimated $4,000 damage to the Ryder truck. There were no injuries. Birmingham was issued a citation for failure to maintain control.
  • A deputy assisted a motorist on Neola Avenue just south of Jefferson.
  • The Greene County Sheriff and a deputy investigated a fight in the Greene County Jail. Jesus Zuniga, 18, of Jefferson and Dray Rivera, 27, of Jefferson were charged with disorderly conduct. Zachery Waters, 19, of Paton was charged with interference with official acts.
  • The Greene County Sheriff and deputies conducted a search warrant in the 800 block of Hager Street in Grand Junction. Suspected drug paraphernalia was located. Charges are pending lab results.
  • A deputy assisted with putting cattle back in the fence in the 800 block of I Avenue.
  • The Greene County Sheriff investigated a single-vehicle accident on 235th Street near S Avenue. Kara Schroeder, 19, of Jefferson lost control of her 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, striking the center of a bridge and also a guard rail. The vehicle was totaled, and there was an estimated $3,500 damage to the guard rail.
  • A deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle on 220th Street near Eaton Avenue.
  • A deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle on R Avenue just north of 235th Street.
  • Two deputies conducted search warrants for stolen property in Woodbury County.

February 8, 2018

  • A deputy tried to locate debris on the roadway on E Avenue near 320th Street.
  • A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with a two-vehicle accident on N. Elm and Central streets.
  • A deputy investigated a verbal domestic in the 700 block of E. Railroad Street, Grand Junction.
  • A deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in the 800 block of Percival Street in Grand Junction.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
