This Dallas County Sheriff’s office released a dash cam video Monday in which Dallas County Deputy Sheriff Brandon Soll is seen being struck by a vehicle while investigating a Jan. 28 traffic collision on Iowa Highway 44 near R Avenue east of Dallas Center.
“We are asking for the public to slow down for emergency responders and to pay special attention due to our upcoming weather,” Dallas County Chief Deputy Adam Infante said Monday. The incident in the video occurred during white-out conditions.
“It’s only by the grace of God that I was not killed or seriously injured,” Soll said Saturday. He said he was struck by the skidding SUV and knocked to the ground.
The video shows the out-of-control SUV first smashing the side-view mirror on Soll’s patrol vehicle, from the dashboard of which the video was recorded. The sliding vehicle nearly struck a firefighter and a party to the collision before striking Soll.
