Hawks knocked from contention by Bulldogs

WOODWARD — Ogden scored a 9-5 win over host Woodward-Granger in Class 2A Region 4 play July 6, ending the season for the Hawks.

Ogden grabbed a 2-1 lead with two tallies in the top of the third, but W-G (7-24) countered with three runs in their ensuing at-bat to move back in front, 4-2. The Bulldogs erupted for seven sixth-inning runs to return to the lead, at 9-4, with the Hawks able to push only a single run across the dish in the sixth as their season came to an end.

Rian Jamison smashed a home run for W-G and finished with two RBIs and a run scored. Allie Moore had two singles, with Close Hogue, Bella McDivitt, Georgia Simmons, Brylee Bice and NataLeigh Herron also recording base hits.

Bice and Herron also had RBIs, with Moore, Hogue, McDivitt, and Madison Rogers scoring for the home team.

Herron pitched 5-2/3 frames, yielding eight runs (seven earned) on 10 hits while walking two and striking out two. Jamison tossed 1-1/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on a hit while fanning one.

The game was the final prep appearance for lone senior Ava Petersen.
