Hawks streak past Roadrunners in WCAC volleyball

TRURO — Woodward-Granger used scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-19 to sweep WCAC foe Interstate-35 in league volleyball action Tuesday.

W-G (3-13, 3-1) received kills from throughout the lineup. Samantha Volz, Jada Tague and Grace Deputy each had five kills, with Ashely Gerken adding four. Brayten Ashman and Audrey Simmons both recorded three kills, with Lindsay Mescher and Darby Nixon tallying one kill apiece.

Simmons distributed a team-best 14 assists, with Volz tallying five, Gerken two and Nixon and Tague one each.

Nine digs were recorded by both Nixon and Tague, with Ashman making six. Simmons finished with four digs and Gerken with three while Deputy had one.

Deputy had six aces on 15-of-15 serving and Simmons four on a 14-of-16 effort. Nixon was 8-11-3 behind the line and Tague 15-16-2, with Volz 8-9-1, Ashman 4-5-1, and Gerken 2-of-2.

W-G returns to play Saturday with a visit to the Ballard Tourney in Huxley.
