IDPH, Iowa National Guard lead virus tests in Adel

COVID-19 tests are available Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to all long-term care workers in Dallas County through a partnership of the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa National Guard, which have formed a testing strike team.

ADEL, Iowa — COVID-19 testing began Friday morning in Adel for all staff members of long-term care facilities in Dallas County. The state-led testing runs until 6 p.m. Friday and resumes Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dallas County Fairgrounds at 28057 Fairground Road.

All nursing home workers are eligible for the test. About 1,000 workers are employed at the nine long-term care facilities in Dallas County:

  1. Adel Acres in Adel
  2. Arbor Springs in West Des Moines
  3. Edgewater in West Des Moines
  4. Granger Nursing in Granger
  5. Legacy Pointe in Waukee
  6. Pearl Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation in Perry
  7. Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry
  8. Rowley Masonic Community in Perry
  9. Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center

The tests are paid for by the long-term care facilities and administered through a partnership of the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Iowa National Guard, which have formed testing strike teams.
