An Indiana man was arrested on drug charges early Monday while passing through Waukee on U.S. Interstate 80.
Deandre Marquese Faison-Gardner, 24, of 2600 W. 93rd Ave., Crown Point, Indiana, was charged with controlled substance violation and failure to affix drug stamp.
The incident began about 1:30 a.m. Monday on eastbound U.S. Interstate 80 in Waukee, where an officer of the Waukee Police Department made a traffic stop on a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu “for an equipment violation,” according to court records.
The officer made contact with Faison-Gardner and “gathered reasonable suspicion,” according to court records.
A K-9 unit was dispatched to the scene, and “the dog alerted to the presence of narcotics,” according to court records.
A search of the vehicle disclosed “approximately 224 grams of marijuana in a vacuumed sealed plastic bag,” according to court records.
Faison-Gardner is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $5,000 cash-only bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Feb. 17 in Dallas County District Court.
