A large quantity of nails fell off a trailer and scattered across Iowa Highway 141 at Diagonal Road Saturday afternoon, causing traffic to be temporarily rerouted around the spill.
Officers of the Perry Police Department responded to the reported debris in the roadway about 1:30 p.m. and directed westbound traffic off the highway at Diagonal Road, and eastbound traffic was detoured at I Court.
The Perry Volunteer Fire Department responded and cleared the roadway of the hardware using a broom and a magnetic collector.
