GRAND JUNCTION, Iowa — Two Jefferson residents were killed Saturday night when their pickup left the roadway of U.S. Highway 30 west of Grand Junction and struck a tree, ejecting both victims from the vehicle.

Shiena Marie Hadley, 41, of Jefferson and Ryan Michael Vaughn, 32, of Jefferson, were traveling westbound in a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado about 9:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 30 west of T Avenue in Greene County when the accident occurred, according to a Iowa State Patrol crash report.

The pickup left the roadway, “entering the south ditch,” where it “rolled and struck a tree,” according to the report. It is “unknown at this time which occupant was driving.”

Neither victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation, the ISP said.

The victims were transported by Jefferson EMS to the office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny.
