February 17, 2018

  • Casey’s General Store reported a suspicious vehicle parked in their lot at 508 N. Elm St. An officer spoke to someone in the vehicle, and the person moved the vehicle.
  • Tanya Turner reported a stray pit bull in her yard in the 800 block of W. Mahlon Street. An officer issued Ryan Brown of Jefferson a citation for animal at large prohibited.
  • An officer located a Labrador retriever running freely near Park and Elm streets. The officer located a number on the animal’s collar and contacted the owner to pick the animal up. The officer gave the owner a time period to get the animal licensed with the city.
  • Jim Taylor reported criminal mischief occurring at 1409 N. Elm St. An officer was given the name of a suspect by Taylor, and the officer learned that a crime had not occurred, and the two were involved in an ongoing dispute between themselves. The officer advised both parties to end contact with one another.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 100 block of N. Grimmell Road.
  • An officer arrested Paul Nelson, 43, of Jefferson at 300 S. Pinet St. on an outstanding warrant for failing to serve time on disorderly conduct-simple.
  • An officer was advised of a careless driver approaching Jefferson on 237th Street. The officer located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop near Elm and 220th streets. The driver was issued a verbal warning.
  • An officer arrested Rodney Blackmon, 22, of Jefferson on an outstanding Greene County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • The Wild Rose Casino requested an officer for a possible fake ID at 777 Wild Rose Lane. The suspect left the casino before the arrival of the officer.
  • Chad Louk reported a stolen car trailer form 600 N. Elm St. The trailer was taken within the last month. An officer learned a deputy located a trailer abandoned in the county on Jan. 21 and placed it in the impound lot. Louk provided proof of ownership and the trailer was released to him by a deputy.
  • Dennis Goshon reported kids ringing his doorbell and running from the area of the 300 block of Rushview Drive.
  • An officer was called to 909 W. Lincoln Way for a domestic situation occurring there. The officer arrived and made contact with a couple living at the residence. They said a verbal argument occurred between them. The officer did not observe any markings from a physical altercation and worked to defuse the issues.

February 18, 2018

  • An officer removed a cat form a live trap in the 300 block of S. Oak Street.
  • An officer assisted the Greene County EMS with a medical call in the 300 block of E. McKinley Street.
  • Peter Bartelt reported following a possible intoxicated driver on 220th Street. An officer located the vehicle and performed a traffic stop in the 400 block of E. Monroe Street. Jackie D. Cram, 23, of Jefferson was arrested for driving while barred.
  • Ted Herrick requested an officer at 407 S. Olive St. for an unwanted female knocking on the door. The officer assisted the female in gathering some personal documents before she left the area.
  • An officer checked on a business alarm activation at 1603 N. Elm St. All doors and windows were secure at the business.

February 19, 2018

  • A traffic stop was performed in the 400 block of W. Russell Street, resulting in Alysha Steece of Jefferson being issued a citation for driving while suspended.
  • Brent Bast reported a burglary to a shed at 203 E. Perry St. Bast was unsure if items were missing inside the shed. An officer is investigating.
  • A caller reported a sheet of plywood in the road on Iowa Highway. 4 just north of 220th Street. An officer removed the debris from the roadway.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 700 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in John Woodford of Jefferson being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 400 block of N. Elm Street, resulting in Joanna Saxton of Somers being issued a citation for dark windows.
  • Jordan Durns spoke with an officer about a dog she purchased two weeks ago on Craig’s List. Durns said the dog was not being nice. She was advised to take the animal to a vet.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
