  • While on patrol, an officer located a vehicle at the storage units at 408 E. Highway 30. The officer made contact with someone loading items into a unit, and the person provided paperwork showing rental of the unit.
  • Amber Revell requested an officer at 405 E. Monroe St. for a civil dispute occurring with a roommate. The officer worked to defuse the issues for the evening.
  • An officer assisted Buena Vista County by delivering a death notification to a Jefferson resident.
  • Officers assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a vehicle fire at 304 N. Chestnut St. The 2001 Nissan Altima, owned by Bill Richardson of Jefferson, was a total loss.
  • A caller said a male walking two dogs in the area of S. Grimmell Road and W. Russell Street might have kicked one of the dogs. An officer located the male and spoke with him. He denied kicking the animal. Both animals appeared to be healthy and happy.
  • A traffic stop was performed in the 200 block of N. Locust Street, resulting in Brittany Bowman of Jefferson being issued a citation for operation without registration.
  • A traffic stop at 220th and Mulberry streets resulted in Bawi Cung of Marshalltown being issued a citation for excessive speed.
  • An officer was requested at the Greene County High School at 100 Ram Drive. A student sent text messages to other students advising that an active shooter was in the school. The officer is investigating.
  • Steve Murphy reported seeing people inside an empty residence he purchased at 505 E. State St. The people were gone before an officer’s arrival.
  • Aaron Harns reported a male with a holstered firearm visible on his hip shopping at HyVee. The officer located the male and verified his concealed-carry permit. The officer advised the male to cover the weapon and keep it concealed.
  • Robert Ewing voiced his concerns to officers about an encyclopedia showing how to build a bomb.
