Brooke Renae Venteicher, 38, of Jefferson was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault.

A Jefferson woman was arrested Thursday for assault after allegedly striking her husband and dousing him with water.

Brooke Renae Venteicher, 38, of 207 N. Olive Street, Jefferson, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.

The incident began Aug. 20 about 7:15 p.m. when the victim called the Greene County Law Enforcement Center and reported that Venteicher “had been drinking and would not leave him alone.”

By the time an officer of the Jefferson Police Department arrived, “the situation had calmed,” according to court records. The officer returned to the residence about 7:45 p.m. on a report that “the verbal altercation between the two had became physical.”

The officer made contact with the victim and learned that Venteicher “had thrown water on him and struck him in the back,” according to court records. One of the two minor children residing in the household told the officer that “his mother told him not to tell” the officer that Venteicher “had hit his father.”

The officer made contact with Venteicher, who said “she was mad” because the victim “had
called the police and had struck him on the back in the same manner as when the two were ‘roughhousing.'”

Venteicher was held in the Greene County Jail prior to being released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for a hearing Sept. 9 in Greene County District Court.
