In the ongoing collaboration between Hometown Heritage and the Perry Historic Preservation Commission, the newest addition to the Soumas Court Perry Wall of Witnesses was announced Wednesday: Jim Walstrom of Perry, a longtime community leader and tireless booster of local commerce and culture.
“There were 51 very good nominations reviewed by Perry Historic Preservation Commission members,” said Commission President Jeanette Peddicord. “There were two confidential votes to limit the field of applications for this award.”
In their announcement, Hometown Heritage and the Perry Historic Preservation said they are planning an unveiling ceremony of Walstrom’s bas relief and a reception in the fall.
“We wish to thank each of you who participated in this project,” Peddicord said. “Once again, we are keeping the nomination applications received this year to add to the application we receive next year.”
According to the commission’s call for nominations, “The Wall of Witnesses recognizes those who have gone before us and stand as witnesses to our care of the community and those who set the course both in the present and in the future.”
A very good choice indeed. Been a Jim Walstrom fan for many years!
