A celebration of life gathering will be held for John W. Hansen, 56, of Perry Saturday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at John’s sister Jackie’s home in Perry. John passed away April 13, 2016, at his home.
Memorials in his name may be left or sent to Murdock Funeral Home.
Survivors include his mother, Maureen Hansen of Perry; and his three sisters, Jackie (David) Umland of Perry, Hildie Stokely of Perry and Jenny Grogen of Marshalltown.
John and his brother Mike were the first two people I met in Perry when I first moved here in 1978. Oh, the stories I could tell! Some are fit for publication here, some I’ll put on Facebook but many are best left untold for now. I’ll have much more to say about John and Mike after a few days. It will take me some time to sort out my feelings, jostle my brain cells and put down that which should not be lost. Until then, Godspeed John!
I knew John Hansen. He lived down the street from me on Third Street. I used to live two doors from him, but then I moved a block from him. He was a nice man. He would ride his bike all over Perry. I was shocked when I heard he passed away. When he would ride by my house, I would say, “Hi, John!” and he would say, “Hi!” back. John’s riding his bike for God now. John, everyone in Perry is going to miss you and your friendship. See you in heaven, John. This is Debra Cregeen signing off now.
