Juan Jimenez of Perry has reportedly died from injuries sustained Oct. 29 in a murder spree in Perry.

Juan Jimenez, 78, of Perry, who survived a murderous Oct. 29 assault that left a mother and daughter dead, has reportedly died, according to the administrator of his Gofundme page.

Karma Meraz of Perry informed ThePerryNews.com at 12:242 p.m. Saturday of Jimenez’s death. Jimenez, fondly known to friends as Don Juanito, had been in a coma for several days, according to Meraz.

Jimenez was allegedly attacked two weeks ago by Carlos Marlo Hernandez-Ventura, 25, of Perry. Hernandez-Ventura already faces charges of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Lourdes Leake, 34, and her daughter, Melany Barraza, 14, of Perry.

The charge of attempted murder of Jimenez will presumably be changed to a third count of first-degree murder against Hernandez-Ventura.

A fundraising event for Jimenez was planned for Sunday, Nov. 13. Meraz said Monday Jimenez was “still in bad shape. He is in a coma. And still praying for his recovery.”

ThePerryNews.com will update this story as information becomes available.
