Alyssa Kruger pitches for Perry against W-G earlier this season. The senior threw a four-hit shutout to beat host Carroll Friday.

CARROLL — Alyssa Kruger yielded four hits and issued a single base on balls in seven frames from the ring Friday, an effort that, combined with error-free defense, helped Perry score a 2-0 win over Carroll in Raccoon River Conference softball.[wpedon id=”82220″ align=”center”]

Originally scheduled to be played Wednesday, the game was moved up to Friday, and given an unusual 11 a.m. start time. The early departure from Perry clearly had no detrimental impact on the Jayettes (9-14, 1-8) who avenged a 13-4 home loss on May 30 for their first conference win of the season.

Macy Killmer singled in the third inning, moving to third base on a Grace Stewart base hit, with Stewart taking second base moments later. Jo Diw’s RBI-ground out plated Killmer, with Stewart scoring one out later when Kruger came through with a run-scoring single.

Diw had two singles in the win, with Kruger, Stewart, Killmer, Sid Vancil and Adriana Eastman also adding hits. Kruger finished with two strikeouts in collecting the win.

Perry hosts Class 4A No. 2 Carlisle Monday and Des Moines North Tuesday before playing a varsity twin bill at Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday. Ballard will visit the PAC Thursday.
