Perry citizen Ron Leber was elected the Veterans of Foreign Wars State of Iowa Junior Vice Commander for 2020-2021 Saturday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Department of Iowa Modified Convention at the Acanthus Masonic Lodge 632 in Urbandale.

Leber has served the Veterans of Foreign Wars in several positions. He was the Perry Post 2060 Commander for seven years, attaining All-State honors four years out of seven, and as Department of Iowa Chaplin for 2018-2019.

Leber has also served the VFW Fifth District in several positions: as Assistant Chief of Staff, Surgeon and District Commander 2019-2020 and has chaired several committees for the local post and district.

Iowa Junior Vice Commander Leber will assume the position effective July 25.
