Lions sweep host Hawks in WCC volleyball

WOODWARD, IA — Des Moines Christian lifted their record to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in WCC play with a 3-0 sweep of host Woodward-Granger (1-1, 1-1) Tuesday.

The Lions won on scores of 25-21, 25-10, and 25-7.

Audrey Simmons led the Hawk attack with seven kills, with Grace Deputy adding four kills, Lindsay Mescher three and Cadence Klocke one. Anna Weaver distributed 13 assists and Simmons one.

Bella McDivitt’s nine digs were a team-best, with Simmons tallying seven. Weaver had five digs, Cela Hill four, Grace Deputy and McKenna Carroll two each and Meschel and Klocke one apiece.

W-G served 33-of-39 (85 percent) with seven aces.

McDivitt was 5-9-3, Weaver 6-6-1, Deputy 5-7-1, Mescher 5-5-1, Hill 5-5-1 and Simmons 7-of-8.

DMC served at a high clip, connecting on 71-of-74 (96 percent) with 12 total aces.

W-G will join several teams Thursday for their annual visit to the ADM Tourney.
