Lois Ann ‘Sue’ Sprott of Ankeny

Lois Ann “Sue” Sprott, 68, of Ankeny and formerly of Bouton and Woodward passed from this world May 9, 2019, surrounded by her children.

Sue was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on Dec. 7, 1950.

In 1967 she met and fell in love with her first love and high school sweetheart John Sprott.

She graduated from Narbonne High School in California in the spring of 1969 and married John on June 27, 1969. They started their family in California before moving to Iowa in 1979, where they finished raising their five children.

John and Sue were married for 38 years until John’s passing in November 2007.

Sue’s occupations over the years included homemaker, in-home dare care provider, assistant director of the Woodward Child Care Center and Avon sales associate for many years, where she enjoyed the socialization with her customers.

She was a member of the Bouton Fire Department and an EMT for years alongside her husband John.

Later in life, she returned to school, received her degree in dietary management and worked for several nursing homes, including the Perry Health Care Center, where she retired from in 2008.

In 2012 Sue was married to Charles Howard, and they settled in Ankeny.

Sue loved crafts, indoor and outdoor gardening, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sue is preceded in death by her first husband, John Sprott; her father, Lester Parshall; her step-father, Ronald Jones; and her sister, Deborah Jones.

Sue is survived by her husband, Charles Howard; mother, Kathleen Davis; brother, Donald (Bobbiesue) Jones; sisters, Kathleen Boaz and LuAnne (Mark) Mudrick; children, Amie Boudreau, Kellie (Craig) DeHoet, Christopher (Twila) Sprott, Shellie (Ben) Crawford and Shawna Sprott; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Sue touched the lives of so many and will be missed and remembered fondly by all who knew her. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday May 14 from 4-6 p.m. at Hamilton on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westtown Parkway in West Des Moines.

Memorials may be given to the family toward the final resting place for John and Sue.
