August 26, 2019

  • An officer was stopped by someone who reported a male transient walking northbound on Iowa Highway 17 who was staggering and fell at 315th Street. The officer informed dispatch and then made contact with the male, who had walked from Slater and was traveling to Boone. The male refused medical services. The officer advised dispatch and asked that a Boone County Deputy be notified for possible transport.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident about issues he was having. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer spoke to a local landlord about checking the backgroung of a potential tenant on Iowa Courts Online.
  • An officer had two junk vehicles towed from the 100 block of S. Main Street to clean up for the Labor Day Celebration.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call in the 200 block of S. Green Street.
  • An officer followed up on a possible theft report.

August 27, 2019

  • An officer spoke to the drivers of the trucks hauling white rock to the Madrid Elementary School road project and discussed with them the one-way traffic around the school from 7:30-8:30 a.m.
  • An officer was dispatched to a vehicle unlock in the 600 block of S. Green Street. The officer unlocked the vehicle without incident.
  • An officer assisted two Madrid residents with a landlord/tenant issue in the 600 block of S. Washington Street.
  • An officer spoke to a resident about how to obtain vehicle information for damaged or totaled vehicles.

August 28, 2019

  • An officer spoke to the Madrid Fire Department staff about safety issues for this weekend’s annual celebration.
  • An officer spoke to downtown residents and business people about having all vehicles moved for this weekend’s annual celebration.
  • An officer was called to the Madrid Elementary School for a student who was out of control. The officer located the child, allowed the child to cool down and walked him back to the school with staff.
  • An officer mediated a child-custody exchange.
  • An officer responded to Southern Prairie Drive to assist Madrid Fire and Rescue in landing a MercyOne helicopter. The helicopter transport was disregarded.
  • An officer responded to the 600 block of W. Fourth Street for a possible burglary in progress. There were no signs of entry.
  • An officer responded to a verbal domestic in the 700 block of E. North Avenue. The parties were separated for the night.

August 29, 2019

  • An officer assisted the Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 500 block of S. Water Street.
  • An officer assisted a Madrid resident with information on a past case for an insurance claim.
  • An officer spoke to staff at a retail store about a female dumping garbage at the business.
  • An officer spoke to the owner of two vehicles parked in the Madrid Elementary School parking lot. The owner is moving one of the vehicles and the other will be picked up by a salvage yard in the morning.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident about the eviction process. The officer also called the resident’s landlord and informed him of the issues at the residence.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident about a trespass warning he wanted for his property in the 500 block of Milwaukee Street.
  • An officer spoke to several Madrid residents who complained about scam phone calls from Social Security. These are all scam calls. Do not confirm or give any information over the phone.
  • An officer started a case for an insufficient check at a retail store.

August 30, 2019

  • An officer assisted with moving vehicles downtown to get ready for the weekend celebration.
  • An officer was dispatched to Continental Labs to speak with management. The business wanted the officer to inform a former employee that he could not be in the building unless he came to the front office. The officer relayed the message.
  • An officer collected payment and closed a case for an insufficient check from a retail store.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call at the Madrid Clinic.
  • Officers attended the home football game and assisted with traffic control.

August 31, 2019

  • An officer was contacted by a Des Moines Police Department Detective regarding a missing/runaway female juvenile who might have gone to Madrid. The officer located the juvenile, and she was returned to her family.
  • An officer arrested Michael Brink, who was in the company of a runaway who was taken into custody, on two Winneshiek County warrants for second-degree theft and burglary.
  • Officers assisted the Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call in the 200 block of W. Seventh Street.
  • An officer took a report of a runaway juvenile and entered the person into the system.

September 1, 2019

  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Avenue.
  • An officer assisted Labor Day members with moving a vehicle downtown for the car show.
  • An officer performed an unlock at the downtown car show.
  • An officer met with a Madrid resident who turned in a found wallet. The officer located the owner and turned the item over to him.
  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call in the 200 block of W. Seventh Street.
  • An officer spoke to a parent who had reported her 14-year-old daughter as a runaway. The juvenile returned home and then left again against the mother’s demands. The officer contacted the Woodward Police Department to assist with locating the juvenile female.
  • An officer spoke to several kids about riding bikes downtown and around vehicles in the car show.
  • An officer followed up with the missing juvenile report from the previous night. The juvenile was located in the county and put in contact with her parents.
