January 12, 2018

  • An officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 300 block of N. Locust Street.
  • An officer returned a call regarding a lost wallet. The officer attempted to assist the caller in locating the item. The owner ended up finding it at a local store.
  • An officer received a call about an open door in the 300 block of N. Main Street. The officer did a call for service and was able to secure the door.
  • An officer was called to the 600 block of S. Kennedy Avenue for an attempted burglary report.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a trespassing complaint.
  • An officer followed up with a resident regarding a past assault report.
  • An officer assisted a motorist who ran out of fuel on Iowa Highway 17.

January 13, 2018

  • An officer located a Madrid resident for a church group from Texas and delivered a message to her about a family member.
  • An officer assisted someone with a vehicle that was stuck in the snow at the cemetery just west on Iowa Highway 210.
  • An officer took a damage report to a building from a snow removal vehicle from the recent past snow storm.

January 14, 2018

  • An officer assisted the Boone County Sheriff’s office with a personal-injury traffic accident north of town on Iowa Highway 17.
  • An officer followed up with a juvenile and parent regarding a past assault report.
  • An officer spoke to someone and updated him on new information regarding a fraud report made previously.

February 15, 2018

  • An officer responded to the Madrid Elementary School regarding a suspicious phone call.
  • An officer spoke to a resident regarding an earlier assault.
  • An officer fingerprinted a resident for an employment background check.
  • An officer spoke to a resident about a phone call she received that turned out to be a phone scam.
  • An officer took a complaint about someone driving through an alley blocked off with traffic cones by officials. The officer spoke with the person suspected of driving through the alley, and he agreed not to drive through anymore.

January 16, 2018

  • An officer fingerprinted a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.
  • An officer met with the Madrid School Superintendent and shared updates and information on the School Emergency Policy.
  • An officer was dispatched to a reported erratic driver called in by an off-duty Iowa State Patrol Trooper. The officer stopped the vehicle at 22nd and N. Kennedy streets. The passenger, Minnie Harper, was found to have a valid Boone County warrant for probation revocation. The officer also located a glass pipe and charged her with possession of drug paraphernalia. The female was transported to the Boone County Jail.
  • An officer assisted with a funeral procession through town.
  • An officer followed up with information regarding a past identity-theft case and forwarded new information to another state agency where the suspect has been verified to be.

February 17, 2018

  • An officer responded to a reported erratic driver. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was found to be okay, just distracted.
  • An officer assisted a motorist with a flat tire at Casey’s.

February 18, 2018

  • An officer spoke to a resident about a missing dog.
  • A Madrid resident came into the police department and said he caught a dog running at large. The dog matched the description of the previous call. An officer contacted the owner of the missing dog, and the owner picked up the dog from a residence in the 300 block of E. Third Street.
  • An officer responded to an assault in progress in the 100 block of E. Ninth Street. A Thaddeus Keller was arrested from that residence and charged with domestic assault-simple.
  • An officer assisted a parent having trouble with her 13-year-old son, who thought it was okay to hit his mom and sisters.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
