February 27, 2017

  • An officer received a phone harassment report. The officer contacted an app service named Textme and requested records on an account that was set up in another person’s name.
  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock.
  • An officer was dispatched to a two-vehicle accident and completed an accident report.
  • An officer was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Water Street for a harassment report on Facebook.
  • An officer followed up on an assault report from the past week. The officer will follow up with the Boone County Attorney for possible charges.
  • An officer spoke to several neighbors in the area of reported vehicle burglaries from the previous week.
  • An officer responded to a report of an unconscious male in the parking lot of the Tiger Bowl. The male was being uncooperative with medical personnel on scene and was transported to Boone County Hospital for further review.

February 28, 2017

  • An officer started an investigation of an insufficient check at the market of Madrid.
  • An officer followed up on an insufficient check case from Tiger Bowl.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department on an emergency medical call in the 400 block of E. First Street.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding retrieving property at a location in Madrid. The officer said it was a civil issue and explained the proper channels to retrieve the property.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for someone.
  • An officer followed up with the Iowa Department of Transportation regarding a past traffic citation that was issued.
  • An officer followed up with the Boone County Attorney regarding an assault report from the past week.

March 1, 2017

  • An officer received a complaint of vehicles parked on Delander Street since November and not moved. The officer spoke to the owner.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for an out-of-town visitor at the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Greene Street regarding flashing blue lights inside the vehicle facing towards the front windshield. There were no medical or fire calls in Madrid at the time. It was determined the driver was wearing a hat with flashing lights on the front while driving. The officer warned the driver.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle after dusk regarding the proper use of headlamps because it was difficult to see the vehicle on the road. The officer advised the driver, who agreed to turn on the headlamps.

March 2, 2017

  • An officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 500 block of W. Second Street.
  • An officer received a report of two dogs falling through a frozen swimming pool at the end of Netwon Road. The owner of the animals arrived at the same time and was able to rescue both animals.
  • An officer assisted a motorist with an unlock at Casey’s.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call on S. Water Street.

March 3, 2017

  • An officer spoke to the Assistant Boone County Attorney regarding an ongoing drug case getting ready for trial.
  • An officer collected an insufficient check for the Tiger Bowl.
  • An officer responded to Brodie Lane regarding a report of a vehicle and its occupants involved in a burglary on Raven Lane. The officer arrested a William Hayes of Des Moines on an Iowa City warrant. The investigation into the burglary charges is ongoing.

March 4, 2017

  • Officers responded to the 400 block of Newton Road regarding a domestic disturbance. It was determined to be verbal only, and the officers advised the disputants.
  • An officer received a report of the odor of marijuana in the 200 block of S. State Street. Upon arrival, the officer met with a male subject at his apartment. Subsequently, Kameron Rankins of Madrid was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • An officer assisted Boone County Deputy Sheriffs in attempting to make contact with a Madrid resident whose vehicle was found to be parked on a travelled portion of a roadway outside of Madrid. The officer was unable to contact anyone at the residence.
  • An officer located a vehicle suspected in a possible OWI offense in the county. The officer made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. It was determined that the female driver was not intoxicated, merely exhausted after a double shift at the hospital. The officer notified her of the complaint and issued a warning for erratic driving.
  • An officer answered questions about identifying fake identification for a bar owner.
  • An officer assisted with a medical call in the 100 block of W. Second Street.

March 5, 2017

  • An officer responded to the Madrid Evangelical Free Church for a medical emergency.
