March 27, 2017

  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a U.S. Internal Revenue Service scam phone call. The madrid Police Department reminds Madrid residents that the IRS will never call, so never share private information or send money.
  • An officer received a complaint of equipment tearing up the alley in the 200 block of E. 21st Street.
  • An officer received a call from a Madrid resident who reported vehicles speeding through the stop light when it turns yellow. The officer will give the area extra patrol.
  • An officer was contacted by a detective from North Liberty Police Department. The officer put him in contact with a Madrid resident regarding a theft case that he was working on.
  • An officer received a complaint about a trailer parked on Eighth Street by Maverick for a long period. The officer marked the trailer after being unable to locate an owner. If an owner cannot be found, it will be towed.
  • An officer was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Madrid Home. It turned out to be a false alarm.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a past noise complaint at the County Line Trailer Park.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding a civil dispute in the 400 block of Newton Road.

March 28, 2017

  • An officer was dispatched to a vehicle driving erratically on southbound Iowa Highway 17. The officer stopped the vehicle at Iowa Highway 17 and First Street. Everything checked out okay.
  • An officer was called to Third and State streets for a dog running at large. The officer located the owner and returned the animal.
  • An officer returned a lost bike to its owner.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding an injured animal.
  • An officer assisted the Madrid Volunteer Fire Department and the Boone County Hospital regarding a medical call at the Cedars.
  • An officer followed up with information to the Boone County Attorney regarding a past case.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident regarding a civil issue dealing with property.
  • An officer gave someone from out of town directions to a local business.

March 29, 2017

  • An officer returned a call to a Madrid resident regarding outside liquor sales requirements at local establishments.
  • An officer was called regarding a suspicious person downtown. The female person was in a vehicle and leaving town when officer located her. The officer found no reason to make a traffic stop on the vehicle.

March 30, 2017

  • An officer met with a staff member of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and went over some past cases.
  • An officer received a call about a vehicle parked on North Street for an extended period. The officer located the owner, who said it broke down and he would like to donate it to the Fire Department for training. The officer will have the vehicle picked up.
  • An officer spoke to a Madrid resident who reported the underground river that runs through Madrid was spitting up water out of 5 geysers in the drainage ditch. The officer explained to the person that it was sump pumps pumping water and everything was okay.
  • An officer was dispatched to a vehicle driving erratically on Iowa Highway 17 southbound coming into town. The officer located the vehicle parked in a driveway with nobody around.
  • An officer responded to a three-vehicle accident at First Street and Kennedy Avenue. The officer assisted in information exchange and answered questions.
  • An officer received a complaint of two males smoking marijuana in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Green Street apartments. The officer made contact with the occupants and arrested a Brian Biles Jr. of Tama Street in Boone for possession of drug paraphernalia.

March 31, 2017

  • An officer responded to the 200 block of State Street regarding a reported hit-and-run accident. The officer will be working with the bank and the VFW to get videos of the incident in order to determine the vehicle and driver responsible.

April 1, 2017

  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for someone in the 100 block of W. Third Street.
  • An officer received a call about a minor vehicle collision in the 900 block of S. Kennedy Avenue. The damage to vehicles was minimal, and an exchange of information was given to both parties.
  • An officer stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of S. State Street. The driver was warned for a stop sign violation.
  • An officer unlocked a vehicle for someone at Dollar General.
  • An officer spoke to someone regarding licensing a four-wheeler for farm use.

April 2, 2017

  • An officer referred a caller to the Clive Police Department for assistance with a theft case.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
