Morning snow then freezing drizzle bring winter weather advisory

A winter weather advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. Sunday for the Perry area, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines.

Snow will continue spread across central Iowa Sunday morning before exiting the state in the afternoon and early evening, the NWS said. An area of freezing drizzle is expected to begin as the snow diminishes toward mid-day across central and southern Iowa.

Brief, heavy snow may reduce visibilities through the morning hours. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches and a light glaze of accumulated ice are forecast by the NWS.

Along with Dallas County, the winter weather advisory effects Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren, Adams, Union, Clarke, Taylor, Ringgold and Decatur counties.

Along with Perry, affected cities include Denison, Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Ames, Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle,
Corning, Creston, Osceola, Bedford, Lenox, New Market, Mount Ayr, Lamoni and Leon.
