  1. I don’t see what’s so confusing about this particular intersection when drivers pay attention. Don’t even start blaming the city of Perry because 141 is a state highway. If the solution is traffic lights, that’s something for the Iowa DOT. The city of Perry has no jurisdiction here. It really shouldn’t be necessary to have traffic lights at this intersection, but that’s for the DOT to decide. Don’t bug the city. Put pressure on the county supervisors even if they have no direct authority here. Between the upset citizens of Perry and county supervisors complaining to the DOT as well as contacting our senator and representative in the statehouse, something might be done here. Still, the DOT could look at the intersection and say there is no need for lights here. The DOT can rightly say the problem is behavioral. Then the logical argument in favor of new lights would be their making drivers be more attentive. Lights wouldn’t completely solve the problem of inattentive drivers, but they would be more effective than what we have now. At the very least, it would eliminate the legitimacy of excuses made by bad drivers.

  2. They need to put stop lights on that corner of 141 and Willis. They need to put it on no matter what. A lot of accidents happen out there. It doesn’t matter. I’ve been waiting for 5 years. They need to put it on there.
