NFL predictions Week 14

A brief overview of the six state title games on tap at the UNI-Dome.

Week 13 saw a 10-6 result from the Pro Picker, whose season total is a very average 112-80 (.583).

Of course, there were a few collegiate games distracting the prognostication energy, so the odds say a good week should be in store.

As a bonus, the last regular season college pick — from the best rivalry outside the Iron Bowl — will be added following the pro guesses.

On with it …

Thursday’s Game
VIKINGS at CARDINALS, 7:25 p.m., NFLN
Minnesota is simply too untrustworthy to believe they can pull the upset … ARIZONA 27-13.

Sunday’s Games
FALCONS at PANTHERS, 12 p.m., FOX
Atlanta has proven to be far less than the sum of its parts, meaning the Panthers remain unbeaten (for now) … CAROLINA 30-13.

REDSKINS at BEARS, 12 p.m., FOX
Washington has been terrible on the road … CHICAGO 23-10.

STEELERS at BENGALS, 12 p.m., CBS
The Bengals could use this win, and the Steelers need it even more, but after floating down the Ohio they will be all wet … CINCINNATI 31-27.

FORTY-NINERS at BROWNS, 12 p.m., FOX
The end of Manziel Madness is at hand … SAN FRANCISCO 17-16.

PATRIOTS at TEXANS, 12 p.m., CBS
Even a wounded and banged-up Boston is still the better team in this match up, but I smell an upset … HOUSTON 20-17.

COLTS at JAGUARS, 12 p.m., CBS
The Shoes looked horrible last week and while they won’t look much better this week they will snatch the win … INDIANAPOLIS 24-17.

CHARGERS at CHIEFS, 12 p.m., CBS
The Chiefs are quietly making quite the move … KANSAS CITY 33-19.

TITANS at JETS, 12 p.m., CBS
One of several yawners this week … JETS 13-7.

BILLS at EAGLES, 12 p.m., CBS
The Eagles believe they can seize the NFC Least. Maybe they can … PHILADELPHIA 21-20.

LIONS at RAMS, 12 p.m., FOX
Very little passion exists in St. Louis for the Rams. After losing the Cardinals, they never did deserve another team (but, then again, neither does LA) … DETROIT 26-20.

SAINTS at BUCCANEERS, 12 p.m., FOX
I hate to say it, but Jameis might be the Rookie of the Year … TAMPA BAY 24-21.

RAIDERS at BRONCOS, 3:05 p.m., CBS
So much for Oakland being more dangerous this year … DENVER 33-13.

COWBOYS at PACKERS, 3:25 p.m., FOX
Stephen A. Smith needs to be gagged. Skip Bayless needs to simply be made to disappear … GREEN BAY 31-10.

SEAHAWKS at RAVENS, 7:30 p.m., NBC *
Back in August this game looked as if it would be a thriller with huge playoff implications, instead it is only going to serve as a wildcard warm-up for the menthol-clad birds … SEATTLE 28-14.

Monday’s Game
GIANTS at DOLPHINS, 7:30 p.m., ESPN
The G-men have lost four games in which they led in the final minute. That means three things: 1.) They choke; 2.) Their coaching decisions stink; 3.) They are capable of beating just about anyone … NEW YORK 27-17.

Last Week: 10-6. Season: 112-80 (.583).

ARMY vs. NAVY
It often chances that sports editor duties pull me away from the set for some, or all, of this yearly classic, which is a shame. The Heisman will deservedly go to Alabama’s Bull Deuce, Derrick Henry, but the exclusion of Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds from the list of finalists brought to New York is an embarrassment. His reward will be a fourth win over Army … THE UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY 38-14.
