Nu Alpha Gamma Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma is pleased to again fund literacy projects in Dallas County. This is the eighth year the chapter has been able to fund projects applied for by the teachers in the county.

Checks totaling $350 were sent to Shannon Ashman, early childhood director in the Woodward-Granger Schools; JoAnna Huisman, middle school ESL teacher in the Waukee Schools; kindergarten teachers Linda Huntington, Nicole Hayes and Christine Gage of the Perry Elementary School; and Amy Hemphill, elementary curriculum coordinator for ADM Schools.

Projects included storytelling kits for the development of early literacy, high-interest low-level books for ESL middle school students, varying levels of reader’s theater scripts and support for Spring Book Week at Adel Elementary.

The Personal Growth and Services committee, composed of Sue Leslie, Deb Irving and Marlene Johnson, promotes this service project through Nu Alpha Gamma Chapter, which is made up of women educators who live or work in Dallas County. The chapter strives to promote the professional and personal growth of women educators as well as to promote excellence in education.
