NWS issues second frost advisory, now for early Saturday

The National Weather Service in Johnston has issued a second frost advisory in as many days for the Perry area.

The frost advisory will be in effect Saturday from 1-9 a.m., when temperatures could dip as low as 32 degrees, resulting in frost formation across central and southwestern Iowa.

Frost can kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered, and gardeners should take steps in advance to protect tender plants from the cold.

Along with Dallas County, the frost advisory is in effect for Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Jasper, Poweshiek, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren, Marion and Mahaska counties.

Along with Perry, cities under the frost advisory include Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Newton, Grinnell, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Pella, Knoxville
and Oskaloosa.
