A Clive man was arrested for alleged drunk driving Saturday night after law enforcement observed him speeding near Linden.
Aravind Amarnat Kannoly, 23, of 2820 N.W. 167th St., Clive, was charged with first-offense OWI and speeding.
The incident occurred about 11:15 p.m. in the 13000 block of 240th Street (Iowa Highway 44) near Linden, where a Dallas County Deputy Sheriff stopped a 2014 Volkswagon TGN “for speeding at 104 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone,” according to court records.
The driver, Kannoly, allegedly presented “signs of impairment,” according to court records. He “was placed under arrest” after the administration of “standard field sobriety testing.”
Kannoly was held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,441.50 cash or surety bond in advance of an initial appearance in the Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
